Sheriff: Hutch man arrested after chase in a stolen vehicle

RENO COUNTY – A 22-year-old Hutchinson man was jailed Monday after he allegedly led Reno County Sheriff ‘s deputies on a brief high-speed chase in a vehicle reported stolen in Hutchinson.

Tyler Humphries was arrested on suspicion of felony flee and elude, no driver’s license, theft, and criminal damage to property.

Sheriff’s deputies were looking for the vehicle at a trailer park in Yoder when Humphries allegedly fled east toward Haven. He then turned north to the intersection of Haven Road and Illinois where he got out of the vehicle, waited for  deputies to arrive and surrendered. He was  taken into custody without incident.

Humphries remained jailed on a bond of $3,600.

He also faces a community corrections violation after being convicted of three counts of theft from last year.
