A Former Nickerson man once again has a judge issuing a bench warrant for his arrest after he failed to show in court.

29-year-old Zachary Lawson can add another 25-thousand dollars to the total for failing to appear for a pretrial hearing last Friday. He was scheduled to have a case involving two counts of felony flee and elude go to trial this week. The case goes back to September 23, 2011, when he allegedly led officers on a chase twice on the same day. This latest bench warrant issued by Judge Tim Chambers.

He’s one of three men charged in a case from last year involving the alleged kidnapping and beating of a Nickerson man. Lawson had been ordered to have a GPS device attached to him, but it appears that court order is not being honored.

Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen had issued a bench warrant just over a week ago for Lawson’s arrest with a bond of 28-thousand, and then last Thursday another bench warrant of 500-hundred thousand dollars was issued by the same judge. By our count, he now has bench warrants with bonds totaling 548-thousand dollars, and as many as 7-outstanding warrants.

Lawson is charged with aggravated kidnapping, conspiracy to commit aggravated kidnapping, aggravated battery, aggravated burglary, aggravated intimidation of a witness, criminal threat, possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, anabolic steroids and criminal use of weapon.

He along with 26-year-old Jeremia Palmer, and 28-year-old Jedrik Smith are charged for the alleged kidnapping and beating of 28-year-old Larry McVey.

The hearing Thursday was for both Lawson and Palmer, but Deputy District Attorney Tom Stanton asked for a continuance in the Palmer case, since Lawson once again didn’t show in court, saying he didn’t want the witnesses to have to testify multiple times. That was granted.

The three cases Monday scheduled for a preliminary hearing with Lawson included possession of stolen property, possession of marijuana, and defacing a vehicle serial number. That case from February 21st, of this year. The second case was from August 25, 2011, where he’s charged with possession of stolen property, for allegedly having a Mustang Skid Steer, taken from Nisley Construction. The third case concerned the criminal threat allegedly made against Palmer. He allegedly threatened him with physical violence back on October 29, 2011.

He was last thought to be living in Sedgwick County, but apparently has not been located there.
