GOODLAND – A 31-year-old California woman who shot at two Kansas Highway Patrol Troopers during a 2011 car chase has been sentenced to more than 13 years in prison.

Piper Lacey Stout-Briese, of Palmdale, Calif., was sentenced Thursday in Sherman County District Court. Judge Scott Showalter sentenced her to 161 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections.

The crimes occurred on January 16, of last year.

Stout-Briese was the passenger in a car driven by Anthony Patrick. While driving through Sherman County on I-70, Patrick fled from police after he was lawfully stopped for a tag violation. During the chase, Stout-Briese fired a .22 caliber rifle at the two Troopers hitting their vehicles. She has remained in custody and entered a no contest plea to two charges of attempted second-degree murder back on April 10.

Patrick previously entered pleas of no contest to two counts of attempted second degree murder and is currently serving a 161-month prison sentence.
