Hutchinson man avoids injury after 3-vehicle I-135 crash

SALINE COUNTY— Two people were injured in an accident just after 6:30a.m. Saturday in Saline County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2007 Chevy Avalanche driven by Herbey Hernandez-Rodriguez, 23, Salina, was southbound on Interstate 135 just south of Schilling Road. The Avalanche struck a 2005 Chevy Silverado driven by Ian Gerald Austin Cardwell, 19, Abilene, that struck a guardrail and was disabled in the roadway.

A 1995 Acura Legend driven by Billy Joe Reed, 35, Hutchinson, struck debris in the road from the collision.

Hernandez-Rodriguez and Cardwell were transported to the hospital in Salina. Reed was not injured.

Hernandez-Rodriguez and Reed were properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the KHP.
