A 23-year-old Hutchinson man is jailed on a bond of 40-thousand dollars on a charge of child abuse.
Lloyd Parker Jr., of 203 East A, Apt. B was arrested on a warrant for the single charge on Friday and may have been a result of a child in need of care case being filed back in January.
Details of the case are unavailable at this time, with District Attorney Keith Schroeder talking from memory stated to us that it was a cruel beating. Schroeder could not confirm whether this was related to the child in need of care case or not. The jail log indicates that it was a cruel beating or torture. Schroeder did confirm to us that it involved a little girl and says that it came down to a cruel beating.
Hutchinson Police Juvenile Detectives apparently sent their report on the case in what they call long form to the D-A’s office. That office then decided to file the charge and a warrant was issued for Parker’s arrest back on April 12. That warrant was served on Friday, and he now sits in the Reno County Jail.
You may recall that Parker had reported that a black male had discharge a firearm at him while he was leaving his residence on Avenue A. That was back on March 23. Whether the two incidents are related is unknown.
Unless Parker makes bond on the abuse charge, he should make a first appearance on Monday.
