A Hutchinson man arrested Tuesday for allegedly threatening a Hutchinson woman with a gun made a first appearance on the charges Wednesday morning.

23-year-old Justin Quaid Walker of 629 North Hendricks faces two charges of aggravated assault, criminal possession of a firearm, possession of stolen property, driving while suspended and interference with law enforcement.

It started when 46-year-old Vicki Anderson contacted police saying that Walker had threatened her with a handgun, this at 1215 East 4th.

He was spotted a short time later in the 1700 block of East 4th. When police tried to stop him, he along with another man, Michael Carter of McPherson fled the vehicle while it was still moving. Both were captured a short time later after a brief foot chase. The vehicle came to a rest after crashing into a fence.

Beside the charges in this case, Walker also had at least two warrants both for failing to appear in other cases. In one case, he failed to appear in domestic battery case, and the other for failing to appear on a driving while suspended case. But, according to the Reno County Jail log, there are actually five warrants for failing to appear.

In court Wednesday morning, Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen addressed the bond involving the latest case. That was set at 8-thousand 50-dollars and Walker wanted it reduced, but the state argued against it because of his failure to appear in other cases. The judge agreed and left the bond the same. Total bonds for all the case sits at 36-thousand 300-dollars.

Walker has served time in prison for theft, felony flee and elude, and criminal damage to property in a case going back to 2009.

He’ll be back in court on the latest allegations next Wednesday or whenever the state files formal charges.

Carter was questioned and then released.
