Murder case still pending after Hutch man was stabbed to death

There hasn’t been much done in the case, at least publicly, against a Hutchinson man accused of stabbing another man to death back in November.

The case against Aaron Alvarez is still pending after the defense again asked for a continuance in the case Wednesday, They have all the discovery or what evidence the state has gathered according to Senior Assistant District Attorney Steve Maxwell, but apparently want more time to consider their options for a defense and any possible plea considerations.

Alvarez is accused of stabbing 23-year-old Allen Frank to death after the two got into an altercation after Alvarez may have accidentally struck Frank’s girlfriend. The two then argued and Alvarez stabbed Frank in the abdomen.

That was back on November 23, of last year. The victim was flown to Via-Cristi St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita where he died at around 12:29 a-m, on Thanksgiving morning.

Alvarez was arrested on Thanksgiving for intentional murder in the second degree and bond was set at 250-thousand dollars.

The next court date is now set for May 30, and that’s only a status hearing.
