Siemens in Hutchinson rolls out 500th Nacelle

Siemens took time Friday morning to celebrate the roll out of its 500th nacelle from the Hutchinson plant. Siemens held a small celebration with it’s employees to commemorate the occasion.

According to plant officials it’s possible Siemens may roll out the 1000th turbine in time for the state fair.

The 500th nacelle and hub were shipped by rail last month to Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, for the Laurel Hill Wind Project. 500 nacelles have the combined capacity to produce enough to energy to power 350,000 homes.

The Hutchinson plant employes about 300 people and builds nacelles for Siemens land based wind turbines.
