Driver hospitalized, arrested after alleged DUI crash

RENO COUNTY — One person was injured in an accident just after 12:30a.m. Sunday in Reno County.

The Reno County Sheriff’s Department reported a 2013 Ford pickup driven by Houston Shelton, 21, Colorado, was southbound on Yoder Road at Longview Road. The pickup crossed the center line, exited the left side of the road, struck and embankment and a concrete barrier at Journey Church.

EMS transported Shelton to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. Airbag deployment caused injuries to Houston’s face, according to the sheriff’s department. Alcohol is believed to be a factor and Houston was arrested for DUI and ITOL. Citation were issued for DUI, ITOL, and no seatbelt, according to the sheriff’s department.
