JUNCTION CITY – A 65-year-old Junction City man is still confined in the Riley County Jail after being arrested in connection with a 1980 rape case in Manhattan.
Jesse Hammond, who resides at 238 West 14th Street, was originally arrested by Junction City Police on Thursday for an outside warrant and for being a fugitive from justice. He was later transported to the Riley County jail and was arrested in connection with a rape that occurred in 1980.
Riley County Police say the victim of the rape was born in 1949.
Hammond is currently confined in the Riley County Jail on 250-thousand dollar bond.
