NICKERSON, Kan. — Nickerson Elementary School was recognized during Monday’s USD 309 board meeting for winning a Challenge Award.
The award is handed out for student achievement in state assessment tests in reading and math for third through sixth grade.
“This just goes to show that our teachers are committed to teach the curriculum . . . and have the students engaged,” Principal Amy Jones said, adding that the culture of the school is learning.
The award was handed out by Kansas School Board member Ben Jones during a ceremony for students and teachers last week.
