Just as he did for the arraignment in the murder case against him, Billy Craig Jr., through his attorney, Donald Snapp remained mute Monday afternoon when asked what his plea would be for two additional cases against him.
Craig’s alleged to have been involved in a conspiracy to commit crimes associated with a fake driver’s licenses. The state is alleges that he along with Kylie Hartman and Kasey Pisoni were involved and had planned to make checks using the false driver’s licenses, with others names on them, but their pictures. The checks would be forged all over the state for cash and merchandise. Charges include conspiracy to commit a computer crime, and conspiracy to commit identity fraud.
Judge Chambers said he would set a trial date in that case at a later time.
In the drug case, he faces charges of possession methamphetamine with intent to sell within a thousand feet of Hutchinson High School, attempted sale of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to package, possession of marijuana with a prior conviction, and unlawful possession of a fake drivers license which is now a charge of identity theft. This case occurring between June 1 and July 2, 2011. Craig was upset that the state amended the compliant on the final charge to identity theft, since that wasn’t what he was originally charged with.
A pre-trial hearing is set in this case in front of Judge Trish Rose for June 1st.
In the murder case, Craig along with co-defendant Charles Christopher Logsdon are charged with the murder of Jennifer Heckel last summer. Other charges include conspiracy to commit first degree murder, conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Meanwhile, the state is also now seeking to add an additional charge of aggravated intimidation of a witness against Charles Logsdon stating that on April 19, he threatened another inmate in the county jail from testifying against him. Matthew Mounce is apparently listed as a states witness and back on April 18, while in the recreation area of the Reno County jail, accused Mounce of being a snitch, and indicated that he may be harmed or killed for his statements to police or testimony he might give.
The state adding that charge will require an additional preliminary hearing, and Judge Trish Rose said Monday no date has been set for that hearing thus far. She says they’re still trying to work that out.
