HUTCHINSON, Ks — Salina South got plenty of hits and runs early as the Hutchinson Salthawks committed 8 errors and were swept by Salina South 19-7 in game 1 in a run rule.  Game 2 was similar with the Cougars winning 12-0 in the shutout.  Salina South scored 6 unearned runs in game 1 and led 15-1 in the fifth before the Salthawks rallied and scored six runs in the bottom of the inning to extend the game one more inning.  Salina South tacked in 4 more runs in the top half of the 6th to win it 19.-7.

The Hutchinson offense did produce eight Salthawks hits with Carter Booe and Kadin Goldsmith producing half of those hits.  Goldsmith and Korey Holmberg both tripled and had RBI’s to lead the Salthawk production.

Salina South’s Cole Wassenberg got the win while Garrett Davis took the loss.  Jackson Albert and Kaydan Pennington came on in relief for Hutchinson.

Game 2 was much of the same with Hutchinson only producing 5 hits.  Holmberg did triple again and Davis had two “hit them where they ain’t” singles.  Jared Stoffel took the loss in game 2 after going 4.2 innings.  He gave up all 12 runs and 12 hits in the loss.  Salina South won the night cap 12-0 in a run rule in five innings.
