Accident sends South Hutchinson woman to local hospital

A 50-year-old South Hutchinson woman was taken to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center after a three vehicle accident in a work zone on U-S 50 near Abbyville.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, three vehicles were in the construction zone following a pilot vehicle. All three were slowing down when a semi driven by 44-year-old Alexis Garcia of Guyman, Oklahoma rear ended the vehicles in front of her.

The driver of the second vehicle, Brenda Heim of South Hutchinson was transported to the hospital by Reno County E-M-S for treatment of injuries. A 5-year-old child in her vehicle was not injured nor was Garcia, and the driver of the third vehicle, 52-year-old Kay E. Delaney of Burdett, Kansas.

The accident occurring around 7:40 a-m Tuesday morning, a mile west of Abbyville on 50-highway.
