HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Losing a loved one is always difficult, especially for children. Each year, Hospice & Homecare of Reno County partners with the Cosmosphere in sponsoring the annual “Space to Grieve” Kids Kamp. This year’s event is set for Saturday, June 22, from 9:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Kids Kamp is designed to assist children ages 6-17 who are dealing with the death of a loved one. The 2019 Kids Kamp will include dialogue with trained children’s grief group facilitators in activities designed to provide grief support, education and a place to process feelings and experiences.

Millie Brooks, social worker for Hospice & Homecare, said the benefits of Kids Kamp are many. “I have observed children participating in grief activities with peers improve their ability to engage in conversation about their loved one and process their grief in healthy ways,” Brooks said. Kids Kamp is free and open to the public.

Registrations are accepted online or by calling the Hospice & Homecare of Reno County office at 620-665-2473. Those wishing to register in person may do so at the Hospice & Homecare office at 2020 N. Waldron St., Suite 100 in Hutchinson. Space is limited.
