A 28-year-old Hutchinson man convicted of possession of methamphetamine related charges thought he would be looking at some form of probation when he was Judge Tim Chambers court today, but that wasn’t to be.
Justin Cook has an extensive criminal history including 5-burglary convictions in 2003, one in Texas, and four locally. He also had a number of convictions for being a felon in possession of a firearm in Sedgwick County. Plus, an extensive juvenile history.
Based on those factors, Judge Chambers says he couldn’t justify putting him on any type of probation even though the state and defense were both recommending it. Judge Chambers ordered he be taken to prison for 37-months.
