Hutch man formally charged after striking police officer

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 22-year-old man accused in a drug distribution case was back in court for the reading of formal charges.

Rommie Jackson, who was arrested after he fought with a Hutchinson police officer, is now charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of the offender registration act, interference with a law enforcement officer and battery of a law enforcement officer.

Jackson fought his arrest by striking the officer in the eye and left cheek.

Jackson had six outstanding warrants at the time and was also in possession of marijuana.

Jackson was arrested last summer with another man, Dallas Combs, for distribution of marijuana, possession of guns and drug paraphernalia.

Jackson has numerous prior convictions involving drugs and criminal possession of a firearm.
