TOPEKA, Kan. — A Nickerson High School student was recently recognized at the 36th Annual Governor’s Scholarship Awards event in Topeka.

Kaitlin Colle was part of the ceremony that recognizes the top academic one percent of Kansas high school seniors. Scholars are selected from accredited public and private schools in the state.

“These high school seniors have shown dedication to their studies and commitment to learning,” Gov. Laura Kelly said. “They’ve earned this honor and I congratulate them on this achievement.”

The program is coordinated for the governor by the Confidence in Kansas Public Education Task Force. It’s funded by donations from private sector businesses in Kansas. The task force was formed 36 years ago to strengthen public confidence in public education.
