HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson City Council will go over more than $4.5 million in capital improvements scheduled for this year during Tuesday’s meeting.

No action will be taken, but the board will get a full look and numerous projects as part of the 5-year capital plan.

The projects include $325,000 for some small stormwater sewer repairs in several areas that the city hopes will ease some of the flooding in the city. Also included on the list is the repaving of two parking lots downtown. The first at 2nd and Walnut and the other at 1st and Washington.

Improvements at Carey Park Golf Course are also on the list as the city continues with the multi-phase master plan for the course. It includes new irrigation on several holes replacing several greens and removal of some trees. Improvements and renovations to hike and bike trails and park facilities are also on the list.

The major project on the list is the complete rebuild of 11th Avenue from the Harsha Canal east to Main Street. The estimated cost of the project is $2.6 million. Work would include new curb and gutter, spot repairs to the storm sewer and sidewalks, along with a complete reconstruction of the street, curb and driveway sections.
