Haven school board agrees to sell Partridge school building

HAVEN, Kan. — The Haven USD 312 School Board gave approval to sell the Partridge Elementary School building during Monday’s meeting.

After several months of negotiations, the board agreed to sell the vacant school to Plainview Church for $100,000. The church has agreed to purchase the building and placed $5,000 upfront with the desire to move into its new home by the end of the calendar year. If that doesn’t happen, the church can put up another $5,000 in earnest money and extend the deadline until May of 2020. District Superintendent Clark Wedel said he fully expects the church to have everything in place by the end of the year.

The building has been empty ever since the school district made the decision to close the elementary school at the end of last year because of declining enrollment.
