The Hutchinson Community College women’s soccer team saw its homefield unbeaten streak reach 30 games and remained perfect against the Allen Red Devils in an 8-0 Jayhawk Conference victory on Saturday at the USD 308 Athletic Complex.
Hutchinson’s unbeaten streak at home goes all the way back to 2007. The only non-win in the streak is a 2-2 tie against Johnson County in 2008. HCC has won 23 straight at home.
The Lady Dragons (4-0, 4-0 Jayhawk Conference) remained perfect against the Red Devils (2-3, 0-1). Now 10-0 against Allen, the Lady Dragons have outscored the Red Devils 67-0.
Hutchinson won its 27th-straight Jayhawk Conference game and ran its unbeaten regular-season streak to 39 games.
Sophomore Ashley Burnett scored two goals, while sophomore Madison Joyce had a career-high three assists and sophomore Pearl Slattery added two more assists to lead the Lady Dragons on Saturday. Sophomore Polly New had a goal and an assist.
Burnett scored the first two goals of the game in the first 11 minutes, 19 seconds of the game. Her first goal came on a Slattery assist and her second was a header from a New corner kick. Just 39 seconds later, New scored her first goal of the season on a Slattery assist.
HCC led 4-0 at halftime. Sophomore Logan Shupe scored on a direct free kick in the 21st minute for the fourth goal of the game.
Joyce had all three of her assists in the second half on goals by sophomore Rebekah Ramstack, sophomore Alicia Robinson and freshman Shelbi Otte. Ramstack scored for the second time, while Robinson and Otte netted their first goals of the season.
Freshman Andrea Thompson scored the final goal of the season, her third, on an unassisted goal.
The Lady Dragons dominated possession and created numerous scoring chances. HCC outshot Allen 37-2, putting 21 shots on goal.
HCC posted its third-straight shutout. Starting goalkeeper Eunice Figueroa (4-0) had a season-high two saves. She combined with Emily Soza for the combined shutout.
Allen goalkeeper Cheace Mahaulu had 13 saves.
The Lady Dragons will play host to Hesston College at 4 p.m. on Monday at the USD 308 Athletic Complex.
