HUTCHINSON, Kan. — It will get a lot louder in the area starting Sunday. Starting June 30, fireworks can be sold and discharged in Hutchinson.

According to the city clerk’s office, five firework stand permits have been issued for the city. The permits are $2,500. All funds help offset the city fireworks show. The city remains under the restricted fireworks policy adopted by the county that limits the height of fireworks to six feet. Fireworks can be discharged from 8 a.m. until 11 p.m.

In South Hutchinson, four permits have been taken out for fireworks stands. South Hutchinson permits are also $2,500. South Hutchinson allows aerial fireworks to be discharged from 8 a.m. until 11 p.m.

No fireworks stands will be set up in Buhler. The city does allow aerial fireworks to be discharged. Fireworks can be discharged from 8 a.m. until 11 p.m. except Sunday where it’s noon to 11 p.m.
