Nearly 70-headstones and memorial monuments knocked over or damaged at local cemetery

Hutchinson Police are investigating a case of criminal damage to a local cemetery.

Apparently, an employee of Eastside Cemetery discovered the damaged or turned over headstones primarily on the west side and in the middle of Hutchinson’s oldest cemetery.

Some will need to be set back up, while others will need to be replaced because of being cracked or broken into pieces.

Police say they were random with no particular group being picked. They say there were 68 that were knocked over with 22-sustaining obvious damage. No dollar amount has been given for the damage to the headstones and monuments.

Some of the stones are for graves are from many years past.

No arrest have been made with the investigation continuing.
