A 21-year-old Fort Riley soldier has been pronounced dead at Irwin Army Community Hospital after being found unresponsive in his living quarters Monday on post.

Army officials say the cause of death is under investigation.

Private Thomas Lavrey, a West Seneca, N.Y. native, was a utilities equipment repairer assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Special Troops Battalion, 1st Sustainment Brigade, 1st Infantry Division.

Lavrey joined the Army in March 2010 and was assigned to Fort Riley in September 2010.
