HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Reno County Emergency Management is still working to find aid for those affected by the recent flooding.

According to Director Adam Weishaar, efforts to get FEMA aid have fallen short as there was not enough damage to individual properties to qualify. The county will get public assistance dollars to help pay for infrastructure repairs.

Weishaar says he is now working with the Small Business Administration to acquire low interest loans for homes and businesses.

Weishaar says they need to find 25 properties with damage to at least 40% of the home’s value to meet the SBA threshold for funds. While there was plenty of damage to homes and businesses during the flooding, few reached that 40% level.
