Former Bushton police chief faces charges in Reno County

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Brian Treaster is in more trouble in Reno County for what Hutchinson police say is an ongoing dispute between him and his ex-wife.

Treaster, the one-time police chief in the small town of Bushton in Rice County, is charged with criminal threat for allegedly threatening to kill his ex-wife and her boyfriend. This threat was apparently made over the phone with both victims listening on speaker phone.

Other charges include violations of a stalking order and battery of his ex-wife’s boyfriend.

In court, he managed to get a $75,000 bond lowered to $10,000 — even though he has another similar case pending.

He will be back in court on July 24.
