HUTCHINSON, Kan.— Even though Hutchinson Monarchs and Cheney Diamond Dawgs both had their opportunities, it was Cheney Diamond Dawgs that eventually prevailed 14-11 on Friday.

The game was tied at 11 with Cheney Diamond Dawgs batting in the top of the eighth when Micah Grover homered on a 1-2 count, scoring three runs.

Hutchinson collected 15 hits and Cheney Diamond Dawgs had 13 in the high-scoring affair.

The Monarchs Taylor Barber got his 100th RBI on the season in the 7th inning to give the Monarchs the lead, but Cheney rallied late and used the long ball to come out on top.

Brayden Kennard got the start for Cheney Diamond Dawgs. He went two and a third innings, allowing six runs on seven hits and striking out one.

Patrick Kudelka was on the mound for Hutchinson Monarchs. He lasted four innings, allowing eight hits and eight runs while striking out three. Carson Cornelius and L.J. McDonough entered the game from the bullpen, throwing three innings and two innings respectively.

Hutchinson Monarchs tallied one home run on the night. Keith Wolverton put one out in the seventh inning.

Hutchinson Monarchs racked up 15 hits. Conor Craig, Easton Rindt, and Jackson Loftin each had multiple hits for Hutchinson Monarchs. Craig led Hutchinson Monarchs with four hits in five at bats. Hutchinson Monarchs tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Loftin led the way with two.

Cheney Diamond Dawgs tallied 13 hits. Scott Hastings, Blake Rambaugh, Antonio Gauthier, and Grover all managed multiple hits for Cheney Diamond Dawgs. Hastings went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Cheney Diamond Dawgs in hits.

Hutchinson is home again Saturday as they host Andale at Hobart-Detter field.  First pitch is at 7:00 pm.
