Hutchinson Monarchs sneak past Andale in high-scoring affair

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Scorekeepers were kept busy today during a high-scoring contest between Hutchinson Monarchs (19-11) and Andale Warhawks Saturday night at Hobart-Detter field where Hutchinson Monarchs prevailed 9-7.
Hutchinson Monarchs got things moving in the first inning, when Dylan Nedved grounded out, scoring one run.

Hutchinson pulled away for good with three runs in the fifth inning. In the fifth an error scored one run for Hutchinson Monarchs and Scott Wolverton doubled on a 2-0 count, scoring two runs.

The Monarchs scored three runs in the seventh inning. Wolverton had an RBI triple in the inning to lead the run scoring.

Zach Philbin led things off on the mound for Hutchinson Monarchs. He lasted four and a third innings, allowing three hits and three runs while striking out six. Ty Clark and Dawson Dreher come on in relieve.  Drehergot the save giving up 1 hit, allowing 2 runs with a walk and struck out 2 in 2 full innings out of the bull pin.

Garrett Whitley was on the hill for Andale Warhawks. He lasted six innings, allowing ten hits and six runs while striking out two and walking one. Luke Hardy and Josh Mitchell entered the game from the bullpen, throwing one inning and one inning respectively.

Hutchinson Monarchs scattered 14 hits in the game. Brayden Whitchurch, Jackson Loftin, Taylor Barber, Wolverton, and Nedved all managed multiple hits for Hutchinson Monarchs.Whitchurch led Hutchinson Monarchs with four hits in five at bats.

Andale Warhawks racked up seven hits on the day. Ethan White and Blaine Wood all had multiple hits for Andale Warhawks.
