NEWTON, Kan. – The Hutchinson Hawks closed out El Dorado 24-10 with 7 runs in the top of the 6th inning.

Three hit batters and four errors in the top of the 1st set the tone for the high scoring game with El Dorado allowing Hutch to score 8 runs in the inning to start the game.

Hutchinson added three runs in the 3rd and two in the 4th as wll.

El Dorado kept the game alive with six runs in the bottom of the fourth. Trip Baker hit an inside-the-park grand slam to make it interesting.

But Hutchinson scored four runs in the 5th to answer back the Baker heroics.

Bennett Turner went 4 for 4 hitting for Hutchinson, driving in five runs. Jared Stoffel went 3 for 4 with two RBIs. Kahler Dixon also was 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Kinser Newquist and Zach Hogan each drove in a pair of runs.

Hutchinson used 6 pitchers with Turner, Carter Booe and Bobby Garland each threw a no-hit inning. Booe struck out three.

Newquist picked up the win while El Dorado used 5 pitchers it self with Brandon Scribner taking the loss.

Hutch now takes on Junction City who defeated Adover 10 – 0.  The Junction City vs Hutchinson game is a rematch of the opening game of the tournament.  Game time in Newton is 5 pm.
