Mondays state fair crowd was met with summer type weather after a nearly perfect first weekend. The hot weather drove many inside the exhibit buildings trying to find some shade.

It would be hard to surpass last years state fair attendance, which was the largest in more than 40-years. Still, the first weekend of the fair was a huge success according to General Manager Denny Stoecklein.

 Attendance the first three days appears to have been a little behind last year, but that’s okay considering the record year for fair visitors in 2010.

Stoecklein also reported during Monday’s board meeting that the Kenny Rogers concert took in 109% of its cost, with about 3000 in attendance.
