City Council passes no parking ordinance for two city streets

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — After considering for a long time, the Hutchinson City Council has passed an ordinance prohibiting commercial vehicle parking along two city streets during Tuesday’s meeting.

The two streets are Fountainwood from 20th to 23rd avenues and 20th Avenue from Lorraine to Waldron. Concerns and complaints about trucks on the streets have been coming in for some time and although it has been discussed several times, no action had been taken until Tuesday.

Concerns stem from the street designation as an emergency ambulance route along 20th. Neighbors have also complained about stock trailers being parked along 20th and other trailers along Fountainwood.

Signs will be posted on the new ordinance in the coming days.
