HUTCHINSON — The Hutchinson Community College Board of Trustees will hold a public hearing on the proposed 2020 budget during Thursday’s meeting.
The budget totals $70,135,457 although the college never spends that much. The actual expense budget is routinely around $45 million. The inflated number is simply the budget authority if needed.
If approved, the mill levy would fall from 22.5 to 21.9 mills. Total taxes levied would be $13,175,562.
Also Thursday, the board will go over the functions of a new position within the career technical education department. The college wants to hire a CTE transition coach. The position will provide counseling to potential students who want to further their vocational opportunities.
The transition coach also would serve as a liaison for the CTE program and high school instructors to provide opportunities for potential students.
An executive session also is scheduled to continue negotiations.
Thursday’s meeting of the Hutch CC Board of Trustees begins at 7 p.m. at the Shears Technology Center.
