Wilma M Pettay | 1932 – 2019 |

Wilma M. Pettay, 87, of Hutchinson, died August 8, 2019, at Legend of Hutchinson. She was born January 20, 1932, in Nashville, KS, to William F. and Mary (Peters) Westerman.

Wilma graduated from Nashville High School in 1950. She retired after 18 years of service from the Hutchinson Clinic Medical Records Department. Wilma enjoyed gardening and working in her yard. She was an active member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Wilma, along with her sister, Ilene, enjoyed Circle 1, Keenagers, and quilting at the church.

On August 20, 1950, she married C.B. Pettay in Nashville. He died February 14, 1988, after almost 38 years of marriage.

Wilma is survived by: children, Michael Pettay (Karey) of Westerville, OH, Janice Zerger (Tim) of Olathe, Diane Schultz (Dave) of Hutchinson; sister, Ilene Westerman of Hutchinson; brother and sister-in-law, Earl Westerman (Iona) of Nashville; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren, with another great-grandson scheduled to arrive in November.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; brother and sister-in-law, Laverne and Geneva Westerman; and son, David Pettay.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 13, 2019, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 407 E. 12th, Hutchinson, with Pastors Quentin Nuttmann and Henry Blickhahn officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, with the family present from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday at Elliott Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the church or Hospice of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
