HUTCHINSON, Kan. — When a group of aviation enthusiasts decided to embark on the long and arduous task of renovating an old B-29 World War II bomber, they had to figure out where the historic aircraft would be kept.

The plane, which carries the name “Doc,” is one of only two such aircraft flying in the world and is stationed in a new museum and hangar in Wichita.

As part of this Thursday’s Coffee at the Cosmo, the Cosmosphere will feature guest speaker Franklin Berry, who is the Flight Engineer for “Doc,” the B-29 Superfortress.

The Cosmosphere was contracted to help with the design and layout of the visitors and education center portion of the new facility, including historic exhibits, assembly of the artifact cases and creation of coinciding educational curriculum.

As always, Coffee at the Cosmo is free and open to the public and starts at 9 a.m. Coffee and pastries are provided.
