NEWTON – An 82-year-old Newton man injured in a car-semi accident in Harvey County has died from his injuries at Via-Cristi St. Francis Regional Medical Center, that according to the Harvey County Sheriff’s Office.

It was on Tuesday, around 9:40 a-m when the 1995 Cadillac Deville driven by Ralph Lowry of Newton, crossed the center line striking the side of a 2001 Kenworth Semi Tractor Trailer.

Lowry was extricated and transported via LifeTeam Helicopter to St. Francis in critical condition where he later died of his injuries.

The semi was driven by 29 year old Nathan Unruh of Galva who was not injured.

The accident occurred around the area of East 1st Street and Oliver just a few miles east of Newton.
