HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A longtime advocate for persons with disabilities in the Hutchinson area has been recognized for her efforts.

Prairie Independent Living Resource Center’s Executive Director Chris Owens has been awarded the Region VII Advocacy Award from the National Council on Independent Living for her advocacy work.

Owens has been at the forefront of the local disability rights movement since 1997, providing insight and leadership to the community.
