FREDONIA – Two Fredonia women entered no-contest pleas Thursday to charges of Medicaid fraud and will repay nearly $5,000 to the Medicaid program.

50-year-old Deborah Diehl, and 68-year-old Carolyn Kegg entered the pleas to unlawful acts relating to the Medicaid program, making a false claim to the Medicaid program and theft. All of the charges were felonies. As part of the plea, the defendants must pay $4,868.96 in restitution to the Kansas Medicaid program.

The State alleged that Diehl signed up to be a personal care attendant for her mother, Kegg. At various times when Diehl was submitting Medicaid claims for providing services for her mother, either she or Kegg were in the hospital or nursing homes.

Judge David Rogers accepted the pleas in Wilson County District Court. Sentencing is scheduled for June 28 at 4 p-m.
