HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Police Department was getting reports of gunshots early this morning southeast of the city.

The gunfire was actually coming from the Hutchinson Correctional Facility shooting range. The range is located adjacent to the minimum security unit near G Avenue and K-61. According to officials at HCF, the prison’s Special Operations Unit was doing night training that started around 4 a.m.

The training is expected to continue off and on through at least the rest of the week.
