JUNCTION CITY – One person was hospitalized and another arrested following what police said was the accidental discharge of a firearm in Junction City.

The incident occurred Saturday afternoon in Junction City. Authorities report a man, who they have not yet identified, was taken by his girlfriend to Geary Community Hospital because of a gunshot wound to his lower leg. A firearm accidentally discharged while the male subject was getting into a vehicle. He is a convicted felon and is banned from possessing any firearms.

The victim was transferred to another hospital for treatment of his non-life threatening injury.

According to police the subject’s girlfriend allegedly disposed of the firearm and is refusing to cooperate with the investigation. As a result police arrested Marquita Shanta Dorsey, 25, of Junction City on suspicion of felony obstruction and felon in possession of a firearm.
