A man accused of sexual exploitation of a child in a case from September of last year was before Judge Tim Chambers this morning where he entered a plea to an amended charge.

Todd Murphy entered the plea to blackmail, a level 7 offense with a maximum sentence of 34-months. This made as a part of a plea agreement with the state.

He was charged with trying to coerce a 16-year-old into sending pictures of her. According to District Attorney Keith Schroeder the two had dated at one point, and he hacked into her computer and e-mail, and found a picture of her in a bathing suit that she had apparently sent to her new boyfriend. He then threatened to tell her parents and also post the picture on the internet unless she sent him a more graphic photo. She initially did because of fear of her parents finding out, but “he was still not satisfied,” said Schroeder. He then asked for more action erotic type photos and she apparently couldn’t take it anymore and told her parents, who then called police. That was back on September 21.

Sentencing in the case is set for July 20 at 10:30 a-m.
