HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Reno County Commission will discuss a planning request from Daniel Garber, president of Garber Leasing, when it meets Tuesday.

Garber is seeking a conditional use permit to relocate a construction company to a site just north of 43rd and Plum. This would include an office, the storage of materials, vehicles and other equipment at that location.
If approved, construction could begin immediately.
On a 5-1 vote, the Reno County Planning Commission is recommending the county commission deny the request. There are a number of issues that led to the planning commission recommending the denial. The area is not in compliance with the county’s comprehensive plan and is located in the flood plain.
The commission is also expected to take up the search for a new superintendent and get a quarterly report from Michael Garrett with Horizons Mental Health Center in Hutchinson.
The Reno County Commission meeting is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the Reno County Courthouse.
