HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson City Council will go over an amendment to the comprehensive land use map for Disability Supports of the Great Plains during Tuesday’s meeting.

Disability Supports plans to build a multi-unit living development on the site at 1624 E. 23rd. The proposed development would be similar to existing developments in the vicinity. If approved, the parcel of land would be rezoned from moderate residential to a neighborhood commercial district.

Also Tuesday, the council will go over the revamped rental inspection program.

The city has been looking for a way to make sure landlords keep up their property while protecting tenants from eviction if they file a complaint about living conditions.

The sale of the Avenue B and Walnut fire station will be discussed by the council. The council will consider accepting sealed bids for the sale of the building. Each bid would include the purchase price and intended use of the property. If the building is sold, the council wants to make sure it will be used to benefit the downtown area. The council does not want the building to be used for storage.

Tuesday’s meeting of the Hutchinson City Council begins at 9 a.m. in the city offices.
