KCAC Announces Football Players of the Week

WICHITA – Junior Running Back Theron and Sophomore Defensive End Julius Russell of Bethany College are KCAC Offensive and Defensive players of the week following their performances in a winning effort against McPherson College. Southwestern College’s Austin Ledy earns Special Teams Players of the Week honors as Punter and Kicker for the Moundbuilders in a big night at Bethel College.

Theron Allen, 2010 KCAC First Team All-Conference Running Back, has been awarded Offensive Player of the Week honors. The Bethany College Junior rushed for 193 yards on 43 attempts. The 5-8, 185 pound Fort Lauderdale native scored 3 rushing touchdowns for the Swedes during an Away game victory over #12 McPherson College.

Defensive Player of the Week has been awarded to Sophomore Defensive End Julius Russell of Bethany College. Russell recorded a sack and 2 solo tackles on Saturday night, both were for a loss of yards. The 6-1, 220 End from Cyprus, Texas assisted on 7 tackles and a sack, which resulted in a safety. Russell’s efforts aided the Swedes to a 43 to 34 away victory over the KCAC defending champions McPherson College.

Austin Ledy earns Special Teams Player of the week after a busy night for Southwestern College on Saturday. During the Moundbuilders 45 to 10 victory over the Bethel College Threshers, Ledy Punted 3 times for 125 yards with a long of 46, made 1 field goal attempt of 46 yards, and knocked in 6 of 6 PAT’s. In addition to his scoring attempts the Junior Kicker from St. Marks, Kansas totaled 8 kickoffs for 428 yards.

All KCAC Players of the Week will also be nominated for NAIA National Player of the Week honors, which will be announced later this week.
