NICKERSON, Kan. — The Nickerson School Board will consider a proposal to allow students to participate in two sports during the same season.
Under the proposal, a student would need to sign a contract to participate in two sports – such as football and cross country – at the same time.
Under the contract, the student must have all grades at a “C” or above. Both coaches must agree on the participation and the contract provides priorities of main sport over secondary sport along with game and practice schedules.
Also, the student can not quit the primary sport and stay with the secondary sport. If they quit the primary sport they are removed from both.
The Board will also go over the latest in its push for a $29.9 million bond issue and go over various cash balance and capital outlay matters, and a rundown of the student numbers.
Tonight’s meeting of the Nickerson USD 309 School Board begins at 7 p.m. at the school district offices at 4501 W. 4th.
