HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Union Pacific will release its 3Q earnings report before the bell on Thursday.
In the second quarter, the nation’s largest railroad reported a net income of $1.6 billion compared to $1.5 billion last year. Earnings per share increased by 12% to $2.22. Operating income was $2.3 billion, an increase of 8%.
The earnings numbers come as UP and the other major railroads in the US continue to face legal action by various customers accusing the transportation companies of price-fixing.
Union Pacific employs about 3,000 workers in Kansas and operates 20-25 trains per day through Hutchinson.
