HUTCHINSON, Kan. – There were no changes among the nation’s Top 5 on Monday in the NJCAA Football Rankings.
That means the 6-1 Hutchinson Community College football team remains No. 4 this week.
The Blue Dragons defeated Coffeyville 49-7 on Saturday at Gowans Stadium to improve to 6-1 and become bowl eligible. The Dragons play host to Dodge City at Noon Saturday at Gowans Stadium.
Mississippi Gulf Coast remained unbeaten and received 15 of the 16 first-place votes from the voting committee. Northwest Mississippi is second and unbeaten Lackawanna College is third. After Hutch, Kilgore and Hinds, at Nos. 5 and 6 remained stable in the rankings from last week.
Hutchinson is just 0.93 points behind Lackawanna for third and only three points behind Northwest Mississippi for second. The Dragons own a 23.04-point lead over Kilgore for fourth place in the rankings.
Hutchinson’s strength of schedule was bolstered by the new rankings. Hutchinson has defeated No. 7 butler, No. 15 Fort Scott and No. 18 Iowa Western. Independence is receiving votes this week. Highland, the only team to defeat Hutchinson this season, is ranked No. 12.
The Blue Dragons have been ranked in 18 consecutive polls.
