Help for healthcare sign up available from Hutchinson Regional Medical Center

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Regional Medical Center announced Friday that two certified application counselors are available to assist in signing up for affordable, income-based health insurance under the Affordable Care Act.

Amy Horine and Torry Ericson are available 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday until Dec. 15 to help individuals, families, and small businesses shop and compare health plans. Appointments are required and can be made by calling 620-513-3780 or 620-665-2514. Additional times for sign up may be available, including Saturdays, as the deadline approaches.

Free counseling is for any Kansan who needs to sign up for assistance. Plans include essential health benefits including outpatient services, chronic disease management, emergency services and prescription drugs. After a review of income status, the counselors will determine the applicant’s eligibility for plans and determine if any assistance is available to help pay for coverage. No one can be denied coverage or be subject to a waiting period as the result of a pre-existing condition. All policies are effective on Jan. 1 for a period of 12 months.
