A 50-year-old Hutchinson man arrested after the Reno County Drug Unit served a search warrant on his home will stay in jail unless he can post a bond of 200-thousand dollars. Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen refused to lower the bond when he appeared in court Wednesday.

The search was conducted in the 4-thousand block of west 43 rd around 9 a-m Tuesday leading to Jimmie Lee Banks being arrested on charges associated with drugs.

According to Reno County Sheriff Drug Unit Detective, Sgt. Jeremy Hedges, they served the warrant and Banks was the only one at the residence. They found about 3-quarters of a pound of Ice Methamphetamine with an estimated street value of 33-thousand, 600-dollars. Hedges estimates the drug sells for around 100-dollars per-gram.

Banks also had a large amount of cash on him, over 10-thousand dollars according to Hedges, as well as scales and bags allegedly used to package the drug for distribution. Banks also had a small amount of marijuana, which appears was his own personal use.

Potential charges against Banks includes, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to package for distribution and no drug tax stamp.

Banks is the former owner of J & S Construction in South Hutchinson according to the detective.

He apparently has another case, and an arrest and detain order had been issued, as well as three municipal court cases currently on appeal.
