Severe Weather again caused some problems with heavy rains and strong winds that moved across south-central Kansas early Saturday morning. Winds were estimated between 60-70 miles per hour as various locations across the area.

Local officials had numerous reports of tree limbs down, in some cases blocking roads in the area including 5th & Emporia in Haven, along Arlington Road west of Sterling Road as well as a number reported down in the Hutchinson area.

There were also power outages around the area as well, including the Turon area where some power lines were reported down.

There was some large hail also reported with three-quarter inch hail reported at the intersection of Highway 54 and K-17.

The rains weren’t quite as intense or lengthy as early Friday when many of the city roads were flooded, but still picked up a half inch at the Eagle Media Center. Late Thursday into early Friday morning, the amount was around 2 and 70-hundredths of an inch at our offices.

More storms are possible this afternoon and evening, with severe weather again possible.
