A 31-year-old Hutchinson man arrested in connection with a shooting incident back on February 26 has been bound over for trial as charged.

Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen Wednesday found there was probable cause to believe that Justin Gleason was responsible for the shooting. He’s charged with seven counts of criminal discharge of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, and one count of aggravated battery.

22-year-old Holly Caudillo of 3202 North Waldron was also bound over on charges of aggravated battery and seven counts of criminal discharge of a firearm.

Numerous spent shells were found near the home with Daniel Coronado apparently struck in the foot, who underwent surgery for his injury. He had earlier testified about his wound, even showing the judge his scar. There were a total of five adults and two children at the residence when the shooting occurred, but they were not injured.

The case may have started the previous night outside of Vic’s bar when Marcus Hill was struck in the head, and told police he saw Gleason running. However, on the stand, he back away from that statement saying he old saw Gleason near his vehicle, some 20-feet away.

Hill apparently went to Caudillo’s home the next day looking for Gleason. He wasn’t there, but Caudillo was and came out and told him to get off her property. Hill, Tyson Miles and Earl Smith then went to the home on East C, where the drive-by shooting occurred later that day.

Caudillo and Gleason were reportedly seen at the Pic-Quik at 4th & Plum, together prior to the shooting. After the shooting, they were stopped on Highway 54, near Goddard.

Gleason also faces charges of attempted robbery, attempted aggravated burglary, criminal threat and blackmail, and three new charges, aggravated burglary, robbery, and aggravated battery in a separate case.

On December 14 and 15, of last year, he allegedly sent text messages to the victim and told him he better have additional money, and was coming over to collect. We were originally told that it may be over drugs, but turns out, it was over cash.

He’s also faces drug charges including possession of cocaine with intent to sell, possession of marijuana, criminal possession of a firearm, no tax stamp, possession of stolen property, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Allegedly drugs were found in the small home he lived in. The hearing in that case has been continued because of the length of time it took to cover the drive-by shooting hearing.

Both Gleason and Caudillo will arraigned in the drive-by shooting case on July 2, Gleason in front of Judge Tim Chambers, and Caudillo in front of Judge Trish Rose.
